Scott Blalock has been appointed as vice-president and general manager for the new JW Marriott/Indianapolis. Blalock has 22 years of experience in the hospitality industry and most recently worked for White Lodging, based in Merrillville, Indiana, as regional vice-president for the Chicago/Northwest Indiana area.

The Maxwell Hotel in Seattle has made two appointments. Linda Jones, whose experience in the hospitality industry includes eight years as general manager for Seattle’s University Inn, has been named general manager. And Barbara Dickinson, most recently director of sales at the Roosevelt Hotel in Seattle, has been named director of sales and marketing.

The Tropicana Las Vegas has appointed Cynthia Mun as vice-president of marketing. Mun, who has two decades of experience in strategic and product marketing, most recently served as executive director of business insights and strategy for the MGM Mirage, also in Las Vegas.

Richard Hays has been appointed director of sales at the Tides Inn in Irvington, Virginia, and will be based out of the hotel’s new Washington, D.C., sales office. Hays has more than 10 years of experience in catering and group sales for various East Coast properties including the JW Marriott/Washington, D.C., and the Ritz-Carlton/Washington, D.C.

Ty Brassie has been appointed director of sales and marketing at the Riviera Resort & Spa in Palm Springs, California. Brassie was previously complex director of sales and marketing for two Florida properties—the Westin Beach Resort, Fort Lauderdale, and the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel.

The InterContinental/San Francisco and the InterContinental Mark Hopkins (also in downtown San Francisco) have formed a unified sales and marketing team to be led by Area Director of Sales and Marketing Gail Gerber. Gerber served previously as director of sales and marketing for the InterContinental/San Francisco. In addition, Charles Bello, previously director of group sales for the InterContintental/San Francisco, will now serve as director of sales for both hotels.

The Twin City Quarter, an entertainment district in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has promoted Alexandra Polychron to association sales manager. Polychron has served in a sales support position for the past two years. Prior to joining Twin City, she worked at Frenchman’s Reef & Marriott Beach Resort on the U.S. Virgin Island of St. Thomas.
